Arborfield Village Hall

Arborfield Village Hall is the result of efforts by the villagers of Arborfield & Newland who by buying bricks successfully raised the the funds required to build the original building. This followed the purchase in 1926 of the site for the sum of £50 from the Simmons family by a trust set up for this purpose. The trustees obtained Charity Status as required under the deed of conveyance and a management council was established comprising the various users & organisations in the villages. these included the Royal British Legion, The School. Arborfield Girl Guides & Scouts, the WI, Arborfield Cricket Club, Newland, Arborfield & Barkham Flower Show association, Arborfield Young Men's Club, Arborfield Nursing Association  and the two Parish Councils. Any organisation formed with the aims of a social recreational or educational character may be added as required.

In the late 1990s it was decided to enlarge the building with an extension which now houses the Parish Council Offices and the Arborfield Surgery of the Swallowfield Medical Practice complete with waiting room. The prime fundraiser for this was Helen Reed Macgregor who raised the necessary funds with various activities including the establishment of Roc in the Rec with Dave Woodwards from the Swan, which still raises funds for the hall each year.

As a way of raising money for the Village Hall, the committee have started a "200 Club" with chances to win £40, £20 or £10 per month.
