CARRIAGEWAY RE-SURFACING SCHOOL ROAD ARBORFIELD

Essential roadworks will shortly commence on School Road Arborfield. These works will include localised kerbing repairs and resurfacing of the footways and carriageway. The works are being undertaken by Wokingham Borough Council as part of their ongoing programme of major maintenance schemes. The Works are being managed and delivered through the Wokingham Highways Alliance which comprises Wokingham Borough Council, WSP and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services Ltd.

The work will commence during the school summer holidays on Wednesday 23rd July 2008 and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete, the works are being planned to be completed in two phases as follows:

Phase 1 – Works between the A327 Reading Road Arborfield and Wood Lane during the School summer holiday which will take approximately 6 weeks to complete.

Phase 2 – Works between Wood Lane & Barkham Road which will follow on from Phase 1 and will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.

Most works in both phases will be completed working under temporary traffic signal control but a Road Closure is required commencing on the 11th August 2008 for three weeks duration to complete the Phase 1 resurfacing and replacement road humps works safely.

Working hours will be from 0930 to 1600 hours Monday to Friday.

All affected residents have been notified.

There will be a need for some vehicular restrictions during the carriageway excavation and resurfacing works when the carriageway will be required to be completely clear of vehicles. Further information will be provided as the work progresses.

The proposed alternative route for through traffic is along the A327 Eversley Road and Langley Common Road and this route in reverse.

School Road Arborfield is a B-class, secondary distributor road. Delays to traffic using the road are expected during working hours.
